Las Piñas Bamboo Organ

Tonight at 8 will be the last concerto of the 36th International Bamboo Organ Festival in Las Piñas City. The tickets cost P600, P400, and P200. I wanted to join sana kaya lang its late, far from my place and I have school tomorrow. So I just decided to go for a little tour at St. Joseph Church and see this unique national treasure, the Bamboo Organ.

After reading several blog posts regarding food trips in Binondo (Creative Dork's, Ivan Henares', Jiggy Aquino Cruz's, and Traveler on Foot's), I saw one commonality in their Binondo food trip aside from of course eating and being in Binondo. They're all guided by my tukayo Ivan Dy or if not, by his amazing Big Binondo Food Wok Map.

Last February 14, 2011 our block was tasked to participate on an event called "Love Manila Bay." It is a clean up drive led by Councilor Nino dela Cruz, several schools including my beloved Pamantasan, some Local Government employees and NGO's, Girl Scouts of the Philippines, Boy Scouts of the Philippines, and Philippine Coast Guard.

Meet Met

Everyone, meet Met.

He's the son of the great architect Juan M. Arellano. A true Manileño, introduced in 1931. Became famous, his friends were the famous stars of that time, both foreign and local. However, he was badly injured during the Liberation of Manila in 1945 but he survived it. Since then his famous friends forgot his existence and left him, only the slum people recognized his great past and made them his friends. The slum people called him, "Besa Boxing Arena". Luckily, President Marcos remembered him and saved him from disgrace in 1978. But even after his surgery he never did recover his former stardom. Until now, only a few still visit him in his sickbed. And, oh, by the way his full name is Manila Metropolitan Theater.

Celdran's Living La Vida Imelda

Last January 23, I posted my mischievous lakwatsa experience on San Agustin Museum. I never thought that I have a skill in becoming an escape artist - I made an escape on Carlos Celdran's Intramuros tour. To my great surprise, Carlos himself posted a comment on that blog post and he liked it, he found it "cute and charming" daw. At first, I really don't know how to react on this, he shared that blog post on Facebook, he even twitted it. In just a few hours, the number of my readers sky-rocketed. I received a lot of complements because of it. I was the man of the hour (asumero). But really, it felt good. The best part was that Celdran gave me 2 free tickets for his Imelda tour (oh yeah). An Imelda tour would cost 900 pesos for adults and 450 pesos for students.

I decided to join his Imelda tour on Feb. 12 at 2 PM. I won't attend my Calculus and Bio-ethics classes on that day. It would be my first absent in the entire semester and it won't hurt I guess. Sometimes sacrifices are needed to survive in this world. I invited my friend to come along, since I have 2 free tickets.

LRT/MRT Fun Ride

Days from now, the Light Rail Transits and Metro Rail Transit will finally have its fare hike. There will be an addition of 10 pesos to the present fare (i.e. the 15 pesos fare from Santolan terminal station to Recto terminal station will now be 25 pesos). A total bad news for the commuters, however, there's a proposed student discount (oh yeah).

So before the hike is put in action, I made a fun ride on all these lines of rapid transit:

LRT Line 1 - the old and shaky
LRT Line 2 - the fast and smooth
MRT Line 3 - the all-time rush hour

A Walk Tour in QC | Unibersidad ng Pilipinas Diliman

Hindi ko maitatanggi na ang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas ang aking pangarap na pamantasan. Kaya naman laking panghihinayang ang aking nadama nang makakuha ako ng UPCAT result na 2.62. Naalala ko pa ang mga panahong iyon ng UPCAT 2008, ika-12 ng Agosto, linggo ng madaling araw, pumunta ako sa gusali ng Institute of Biology upang kumuha ng pagsusulit, kinakabahan at nilalamig, kasama ang tatlong lapis na Mongol #2.

Sadyang walang epekto sa aking ang isang pagsusulit na "right minus wrong," sinasagutan ko pa rin kahit hindi ko alam, napapasailalim sa kapangyarihan ng titik 'C'. Sadyang ganun ang kapalaran, hindi para sa akin ang unibersidad na ito sa ngayon.

A Walk Tour in QC | Tomb Beneath The Monument

I finally made it to the Quezon Memorial Museum this time, just beneath the towering monument in the middle of Quezon Circle. The entrance is free but a guard would ask you to drop some money to the donation box (sapilitang donasyon?). Oh well, I entered the door to the gallery where paintings, pictures and relics related to President Quezon are on display. There were documents, busts and Quezon's clothes too.

Botany 101 - A Day Tour at Manila Seedling Bank Foundation Inc.

So I just got home from a little botanical trip at Manila Seedling Bank Foundation Inc. This is for our project in Plant Systematics.

This peaceful, cool and green foundation is located at the corner of Quezon Avenue and EDSA, just across the Centris Station. If you're coming from Manila, you may take a jeep bound to Fairview-MRT Highway, or PHILCOA-MRT Highway, never ride a jeep that would go Ilalim.

I reached the place by 8:10 AM, the entrance is free. Though you must bring plenty of cash if you're planning to buy plant seedlings. The prices may range from 15 pesos for the small cacti, or 1500 pesos for the lovely gigantic flowering plants.
