Climb Itinerary | Mt. Maculot (Rockies) with Sidetrip to Sitio Lumampaw

Our Climb
Date: January 14, 2012
Mountain: Mt. Maculot (Rockies)
Jump off: Rockies Trail, Cuenca, Batangas
Difficulty: 3/9 Minor Climb, 706+ MASL (Rockies Summit)
Climb: Dayhike
Budget: P600

Itinerary

05:30 am - Assembly at Buendia-Taft
06:00 am - depart, Bus bound for Lemery, Batangas
09:00 am - arrive at Cuenca Town, ride a tricycle to Rockies jump-off (the tricycle will pass by the registration site)
09:30 am - final preparation at Ate Thelma's Eatery, start trek
10:30 am - reach the camp site, rest
11:00 am - trek to the Rockies
11:30 am - arrive at the Rockies Summit, Photo ops
11:45 am - head to the "Dila ng Maculot Rockies"
12:00 nn - rest at the "Dila ng Maculot", photo ops
12:20 pm - return to campsite
12:40 pm - back to campsite
12:45 pm - resume descent
01:30 pm - back to Ate Thelma's Eatery, lunch break or Halo-halo break

Optional Sidetrip: Sitio Lumampaw

03:00 pm - return to Rockies Jump-off, walk towards Brgy. Don Juan
03:15 pm - walk down the long stairs to Sitio Lumamapaw (when the stairs split into two, turn left for the shorter).
03:30 pm - arrive at sitio Lumampaw, head to the lake.
03:40 pm - arrive at Taal Lake, rest at the shed or take a dip at the lake.
04:20 pm - head back to Rockies Jump-off
05:00 pm - back at the jump-off, take a tricycle to highway
05:20 pm - at the highway, ride a jeep to Lipa City
06:10 pm - head straight to terminal for Manila-bound Bus, or dinner somewhere in Lipa

Bits of Tips

• Maculot trail is almost entirely an assault,
• drinks at Maculot 7/11 are quite pricey, bring extra drink to save money
• Have an ultimate photo opportunity at the "Dila ng Maculot", though you must be extra careful when going there.
• Pay a visit at Sitio Lumampaw to have a closer encounter with Taal Lake.
