Dream Summits

I'm addicted to mountains. At this point of time, I can no longer imagine my life without putting myself into action on the trails, the wilderness, and the summits. Week after week, there's an urge for climbing a mountain.

When I climbed my first mountain in the year 2011, I made Mt. Apo, the highest in the country, my ultimate goal. Came January 2013, and that goal has already been achieved (hurrah, an account of my Mt. Apo adventure in this link). At first, I thought I would stop climbing after I reached the highest peak, but no, my love for the mountains did not end [will never end] there. Days after the success of that climb, I started to crave for more mountains. The notion "I've done the highest, what's stopping me from climbing the rest" simply gives me the morale, enough reason not to stop venturing into other Philippine mountains.

Mt. Maculot | A New Trail

For having a very picturesque rockies summit, a beginner friendly trail, and an easily commutable jump-off point, it is not surprising that Mt. Maculot is one of the most frequently hiked Southern Tagalog Mountain. And because of this, its trail has become so used up that the locals have finally decided to open up a new trail.

"A new trail in Maculot, where?" - this was the question that bugged my mind, and probably Doc Gideon's as well, when we heard that a new trail has now been opened in Mt. Maculot. We became so curious with it that on the day that followed the night when we were just conversing about this new trail, we went to Cuenca, Batangas to check it out.

Written by Brian Jensen | Visit Las Vegas

The city of Las Vegas is known for numerous casinos that line the Strip as well as other areas of the city. Many people flock to the city each year to participate in casino gambling. Of the hundreds of casino that can be found in the city, certain ones are more popular than others. One of the most famous ones would be Bellagio Casino.

The Bellagio was designed to look like the Lake Como region Bellagio, an Italian city. One of the sites to see here include the Fountains of Bellagio which has multiple shows daily. A variety of casino games can be played at the Bellagio. For example, the poker room found here is famous and attracts many celebrities. It even includes a poker room with high stakes poker. The World Poker Tour has also been held multiple times at the Bellagio.

When visiting Vegas, another casino that should not be missed is the Wynn. One of the most popular Gaming Clubs in Vegas, the Wynn has many different casino games which mean visitors can find just the right game to suit their needs. Like the Bellagio, the Wynn also caters to high rollers. With its VIP player’s club, many skilled players gamble here.

While the Wynn and Bellagio have games that cater to high rollers, they also have extensive selections of slot machines. There are basically three types of slot machines. Two of these are distinguished by the number of reels in them. They include three reel and five reel slot machines. The advantage to playing a five reel machine over three is that more paylines can be created with additional chances to win. The third kind of slot machine is a progressive slot which means there is an additional jackpot that is paid out. A portion of each wager is added to this progressive jackpot which can get rather large.

Mt. Timbac | Too Fast, Not Furious

Two weeks after my epic mountain adventures in Mindanao, I needed to travel to the City of Pines to use an expiring hotel accommodation voucher. A trip too sudden without any plan gave me an idea to hike a Cordillera mountain which, for some reasons, I've never done before. Mt. Timbac (or Mt. Timbak or Mt. Singakalsa), the 3rd highest  in Luzon and 9th in the country, turned out to be my 36th mountain.

Side Trip | A Day in CDO

From January 17 to 28, I went to Mindanao to celebrate my 21st year. I scaled some of the highest mountains in the country, visited an island and explored its wonders, stayed in some cities and discovered how each differs from my hometown, Manila. It was a 12-day long journey - fun, exciting and crazy.

Summary discussed in this link: Mindanao Mountain Madness
On my 12th day in Mindanao, we practically did nothing. It's a lazy day for the group.

Mt. Kitanglad (D2K Traverse) | The Fourth Highest

For the second phase of my Mindanao Mountain Adventure, I went to Bukidnon to experience the 2nd and 4th highest mountains. We did the traverse, famously known as D2K Traverse, on Mts. Dulang-Dulang and Kitanglad. The beauty of this mountain plus the awesome people I was with in the entire 4-days makes it one of my most memorable climbs.

From the 2nd highest to the 4th highest. Part two of our D2K Traverse.
