Panorama | Distribution of the Top 10 Highest Mountains in the Philippines

The top ten highest peaks in the Philippine archipelago are concentrated mainly on its two largest islands. Luzon Island, home of the grand Cordillera mountains, has the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 10th highest. While the rest, including the highest peak, are found in the island of Mindanao.

Mt. Apo, the highest in the country, is shown in this panorama. It was taken from the summit of Mt. Dulang Dulang (2nd), morning of January 26, 2013.

From the summit of Mt. Kitanglad (4th), one can see 4 of the 10 highest mountains cascade. This photo was taken on the morning of January 27, 2013.

Mts. Pulag, Tabayoc and Timbac, aka Luzon 1-2-3, is featured in this panorama. These three giants are all part of the extensive mountain system, the Cordillera Mountain Range, found in northern Luzon Island. Photo taken on February 9, 2013.

Mt. Kalawitan, the 10th highest peak, is also part of the Cordillera Mountain Range, under the jurisdiction of Mountain Province. I haven't climbed nor seen this mountain though.

  6. Please update your list because the IIT Mountaineers #TeamPayong Exploration Team summited Mt. Piagayungan in Lanao del Sur on April 21, 2014 and measure the height of the mountain at 2894 masl. It is much higher than Mt. Kalatungan so it is now the new 5th highest mountain of the Philippines. Here is the link to our video...
